NATURE BATHING in VINEYARD FRIULI DOC COLLI ORIENTALI September 2022

Arrival in CORNO di ROSAZZO and accommodation at Villa Butussi historic villa of the early 700s inserted in a characteristic rural village, built on the site of an ancient seventeenth-century watchtower on the Judrio stream, enjoying a splendid panoramic view of the green of the renowned organic vineyards of the Valentino Butussi company. The villa is located at the meeting point of 4 wine areas with Controlled Designation of Origin: Friuli Colli Orientali, Collio, Isonzo, Friuli Grave. Ideal starting point for visiting a magnificent area a few steps from Cividale, Palmanova, Aquileia, Cormons.

Walk to the millenary Abbey of Rosazzo which stands on the eastern hills of Friuli, upon arrival what lies beneath the visitor’s gaze are lush hills, vineyards, olive groves and the sea. In fact, from the belvedere of the Abbey you can admire the entire surrounding landscape that ranges from Slovenia to the east to the Gulf of Trieste and to the south east from the bell tower of Aquileia to the Adriatic Sea. The Benedictine monks from Carinthia brought the culture and cultivation of vines and olives to the Abbey already at the end of 1200. The management of the historic vineyards is currently entrusted to the company Livio Felluga which produces a “Rosazzo DOCG”, white blend based on Friulano with Sauvignon, Pinot bianco, Malvasia and Ribolla gialla.

At the end, transfer by car along the “wine road” to Villa De Claricini Dornpacher located in Bottenicco di MOIMACCO, a small rural village on the outskirts of Cividale del Friuli

Following experience of NATURE BATHING with relaxation, meditation, breathing and knowledge activities in the vineyard between art, history and nature and centuries-old essences such as beeches, firs, cedars and holm oaks that embellish the park of the Villa.

At the end, a sensory experience of tasting wines produced in compliance with organic farming.

In the morning transfer by car to NIMIS

Walk in the Ramandolo vineyards until you reach the church of San Giovanni Battista from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Udine and the Friuli plain.

Saying “Ramandolo” immediately comes to mind one of the most beautiful and romantic views of the Eastern Hills of Friuli and of the “Vine and Wine Park”. Sitting under the centenary horse chestnuts, the gaze rests on the woods, on the “vineyards – garden”, on the castles and the parish churches of the plains until you see the Adriatic Sea in the distance kissing the coast … It is no coincidence that Ippolito Nievo defined this region as a “small compendium of the universe ”: a patch of land that in a few tens of kilometers encloses the sea, the mountains, the plain and the hills. But saying “Ramandolo” also comes to mind one of the most important wines of the region, known since the dawn of time (long before the arrival of the Romans), mentioned in ancient documents that tell of noble banquets, as well as the first regional wine to boast Designation of origin and guaranteed.

As the proximity, a short visit to CIVIDALE del FRIULI is recommended.  Listed by Unesco in the World Heritage Site in 2011, the city preserves significant Lombard evidence, the historic capital and the best known center of the production area of ​​the “Friuli Colli Orientali” DOC wines.
