Arrival in Cividale del Friuli, the ancient Lombard capital full of charm, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. Meet with the guide and visit this town, which preserves precious evidence of its Lombard past: the Lombard Temple, the Christian Museum, the Monastery of Santa Maria in Valle, and the Devil’s Bridge.

In the morning, departure from Gorizia and Nova Gorica, European Capital of Culture 2025, a laboratory for Europe’s future, created with the goal of forging a new cross-border identity.

Meet with the guide and begin the visit to Gorizia, a city with an Austro-Hungarian past, known for its palaces and gardens: the Castle and the surrounding village, the elegant Coronini Cronberg Noble Palace, Piazza Vittoria with the Neptune Fountain, Via Rastello, and the beautiful Church of Saint Ignatius.

Through Piazza Transalpina, you reach Nova Gorica, a vibrant and dynamic city with innovative architecture, art galleries, boulevards, and theaters that reflect both history and modernity.

In the afternoon, stop at Oslavia, where you can see the remnants of World War I, with the War Memorial housing the remains of Italian soldiers who fell in the battles of the Great War 1915-1918.

Continue to the Colli Orientali del Friuli wine region, a borderland where Italian, Slovenian, and Austrian elements coexist, offering a harmonious landscape of vineyard-covered hills, forests, small villages, castles, and churches. Visit a winery and enjoy a tasting of the prestigious DOC wines, accompanied by a platter of typical local products.

In the morning, departure for the Natisone Valleys, a borderland with an unexplored charm. Arrive in San Pietro al Natisone and visit the fascinating SMO Museum of Landscapes and Narratives, a space that is not a traditional collection museum, but a museum of storytelling, where the culture of the area unfolds. This area is rich in aspects of history and current events, historically home to the Slovenian linguistic minority.

In the afternoon, arrive at Caporetto (Kobarid in Slovenian), known for the Battle of Caporetto in October 1917, fought in the surrounding mountains. Visit the Museum that illustrates and represents one of the most significant battles in history and one of the earliest examples of blitzkrieg warfare.

Return with a stop to taste the traditional local desserts, gubana and strucchi, at the Dorbolò workshop.

In the morning, departure for Aquileia, an ancient Roman city founded in 181 B.C. It was the capital of the Augustan region and later became a center for the spread of Christianity. A UNESCO World Heritage site, you will visit the forum, the port, the decumanus, and the 4th-century Patriarchal Basilica with its precious floor mosaics and the crypt of frescoes.
